YAY YAY YAY YAY YAY!
One more subject finished for the year! I've completed and submitted both my print and online portfolios so that means GD4.2 is over! - Bring on the celebrations :)

Just a couple more subjects to get out of the way and then (hopefully) I'll have finished this degree. {say a prayer for me, thanks}

Anyway, since I've been up over 24hours and I'm basically crazy, I'm going to go have a cup of tea and try to unwind... and then I'll probably crash completely.

so little time

I have been slamming out my assignments this week like some kind of demented machine on the verge of malfunctioning. Each night I sit hunched in front of my computer clicking and tapping before crawling into bed to the malicious chirping of birds. Well, at least I've managed to be productive; yesterday I finished 3 assignments, including one which required me to sew a replica of the toy I'd submitted the day before in order to take photos to put in my portfolio (see square bear above). And of course Murphy's Law strikes true again with this little guy looking a thousand times better than the one I actually ended up submitting. Anyway, I was just so pleased that he gets to feature on the graduating website, even though he missed out on the exhibition book and poster.

Oh I should probably take this space to plug Softies for Mirabel whom he was created to promote. Since we have so many self-directed pieces, sometimes the structure of doing a set brief really helps; and when I stumbled across the suggestion to make a promotional flyer on Meet Me At Mikes I was just swept away with the creative possibility of an actual softie being the poster and the idea of informational vintage inspired swing tags that people could take home and use as inspiration. Of course I know that my idea is in no way realistic, but the aim of the game is to produce a single piece of work that will result in an HD grade, not necessarily a viable marketing tool. Anywho, I was vainly proud of the quality of the piece, I love it when I can look at something and be amazed that it was actually me who made it; then I don't feel like I'm just a phoney somehow sneaking their way through the degree. eh, I babble.

I'll definitely be posting a link to my class' graduating exhibition website once its all online... I just can't believe that the end is almost here, I can still remember first year tutes like they were only yesterday (and not 4 years ago). And now here I am, watching all my friends get jobs in the industry and put together killer portfolios whilst I sit up to the wee hours of the morning flicking through hundreds of photos and dismiss each one as not good enough to grace my portfolio which doesn't even exist.

Yay! just uploaded a small "not working yet, but hey!" message to my site. BUT, you know what that means?! My site is on its way to becoming real!

Anyway, now that the evil of evils (cPanel) is no longer part of the "great unknown" I shall get back to working on my assignment and fear its future upload into the interwebs - no more! :D

Yay! my frankie 2011 diary came in the post today... and its so pretty and vintage I just want to curl up in bed and fill it up with notes. ♥

wishful thinking

Whilst being faced with my computer yet again waging war upon me, I have again turned to that thing which tortures all people - the wish list. Those desires that we have which seem so unobtainable...

However, late last night I casually asked my father if he would give me four grand, after he enquired what for and I explained that I wished to purchase an iMac he simply responded "yes. I think that's the way you're going to have to go". I was so elated I couldn't speak. Silly dad that he is. Mum just shook her head and laughed this morning as I recounted the event and triumphantly announced that I would hold them to this promise.

I know this might not happen, but with the rate that my computer likes to crash and destroy all my files, as well as the number of virus' it collects as it cruises the net; I feel (more and more strongly) that apple may just hold the key to solving some, if not all, of my computer difficulties.

The white iPhone 4 has been added, since my youngest sister and older brother have got their black ones, and being a lover of all things techno, I hate being out done, not that I can see it being any more efficient than my 3Gs so I really shouldn't complain... it's one of those 'wishes' which are more or less fleeting.

The travel bag by Amy Butler, however, is torture I want it so much. I however, lack the time and money to purchase the materials for and to make such a lovely bag and will more than likely just use one of our ugly travel bags come February when we head back to Melbourne for my cousin's wedding.

As our flight home began the day was ending, and the amazing view of being above the clouds at sunset was something I wanted to capture and share, however, I only had my iPhone on hand (so please pardon the grainy, darkness of the pic). There was a lot more light at the time, but editing didn't do this photo any justice, so I've simply uploaded the original, in the hopes that its beauty may be appreciated however dark the image may be.

I did enjoy the trip to Melbourne, it was great catching up friends whom I haven't seen in years, and the best part is just falling into conversation and friendship as though you only saw each other the day before; which makes the upcoming trips back to Melbourne something to look forward to.

Also, I want to make a special mention of the trams. These may not be much to some, but this weekend was my first time using the 'light rail' and I enjoyed it, much like the enjoyment I get from riding the trains when we visit Sydney. Of course, I even enjoyed catching buses when I was in High School, so I guess I'm just easily amused :D

workity work

I'm feeling rather pleased with how this semesters work has been turning out, since I've been trying my hardest to stay on top of everything and try not to get overwhelmed etc.

I've just uploaded my initial design over on my uni blog (check it, if you're interested). It's a website re-design that the class has to do.

Anyway, I'll be heading to Melbourne for the next four days or so, which I'm not all that excited about, just because that's four days away from my computer and the work I could be doing... but it'll be nice... I hope.

It's really late, I should have perhaps thought of something interesting to say before I started this entry, but I planned poorly and I guess cyber space has to pay for it. :D
